Hee Ja is a small time Adelaide artist with an apparent soft spot
for drawing cute girls.
She
was born in South Korea, raised in Australia, and takes her artistic
influence from Japanese
popular culture.
Once
a serious (?) design student, she graduated from the University of
South Australia with a bachelor’s degree in “Visual Communications”,
specializing in illustration. She loves reading manga,
is a huge fan of Studio Ghibli, and is sick of writing about herself
in the third person.
So
let’s try this. Hi! You may remember me as the author of that
goofy doujinshi-style comic, “Emergency Girls”. I only
ever finished 3 volumes before various things happened to halt my
schedule. That was a long time ago (back when dinosaurs outnumbered
McCafes). Anyway, if you purchased an issue, and actually care what
happens next, then don't despair! I'm working on a fourth volume -
just don't expect to see it anytime soon. ^_^'
I’ve also branched into the fashion market, creating a t-shirt
range that showcases my anime inspired artwork. My earlier collections
are currently out of stock (all sold), but I’ve released a new
series that I’m going to sell here online and in selected stores.
If you’re a local, pop into Shin
Tokyo to view my shirts in
person.
In
years past I set up a stall at AVcon (the Adelaide Anime and video
games convention), so I’ve been fortunate enough to meet some
of my fans. A lot of you gave me really encouraging feedback, so thank
you to everyone who has supported my art and bought my merchandise!
<3
Unfortunately
I’ve been missing from the local art scene for a while (I was
busy spawning heirs to my
non-existent empire). I don’t have much else to say about myself
except that I’m actually very boring
– and that’s why I have time to draw. ^o^
Thanks
for reading!
